Six SEO Tips To Improve Your Search Results
When it comes to SEO, or search engine optimization, one of the most important things you can do is make sure all of your pages have unique, keyword-rich page titles and meta descriptions. Page titles and meta descriptions have a HUGE impact on your search engine ranking by helping Google and other search engines understand your website.
1.Before creating new page titles and meta descriptions, find out which relevant phrases are being searched. Companies use industry jargon throughout their websites only to find the public is searching for entirely different phrases that are searched for 50x as often. Avoid this common trap by using the free Google keyword tool to see what people are searching for before you beginning any SEO program.
2.Make sure your page titles and meta descriptions are unique and accurately reflect the content on your web pages.
3.Focus on a few key phrases throughout your site instead of trying to be “all things” to all people. The broader you go with your keyword selection, the more diluted your content becomes and the less likely you are to rank well for any given phrase. Stay focused and reap the rewards.
4.Keep your page titles down to 7-9 words and place your most important and relevant phrases at the beginning of your page titles. The search engines consider the words at the beginning of your page titles more important than those at the end.
5.Refrain from adding your company name to ALL of your page titles, unless it includes your key phrases. Adding your company name dilutes your keyword emphasis and can hinder your optimization efforts.
6.Each meta description should be a single, keyword-rich sentence that accurately describes the content on the page and includes calls to action such as “Click here,” “Call now,”etc.
