On-Page SEO Strategies to Implement

On Page SEO Tips

Optimizing your website pages with on-site SEO is essential for ranking higher in search results and getting more traffic for your website. For best results, both the content and html of your pages should be optimized. In this article, we offer some tips for accomplishing this.

1. Creating Content
The content on your pages should be original, valuable to your audience, and should be published first on your site. Always include text with images or videos to have a good ratio of text vs. images. Establish a publishing schedule to ensure that your site gets fresh content on a regular basis.

2. Formatting Your Pages
To format your pages, use H1 tags for headings and H2 tags for subheadings. Use at least a 12 size font and create short paragraphs to make your text easily readable. Bold, underline, italicize or highlight important points.

3. Page Titles and Descriptions
Create a unique page title for each of your pages so that users and search engines will know what your page offers. Also create unique, eye catching descriptions (up to 150 characters long) for your pages. These descriptions are what people will see in search results.

4. Optimizing Images
Create file names for your images that describe what the image is about. You can also include keywords. For example, if your picture is about blue socks for men, you might name your file “Mens Blue Socks” instead of something like “Blue1”.  Also use the ALT tag to describe the image to let search engines know what it is about. Reduce the file size of images as much as you can without effecting quality.

5. Optimizing Links
Categorizing your posts and pages will help people and search engines find your content faster. You can also have sub-categories, but we recommend not going over one level. Include breadcrumbs to make it easy for users to see where they are on your site. Also, include a sitemap in your main menu if your site is large. Your URLs should be under 255 characters and use hyphens to separate the parts of the URL. For example, the url

https://www.yoursite.net/parenting-tips-for-moms-15-ways-to-handle-stress/

is better than:

https://www.yoursite.net/parentingtipsformoms/

6. Linking Internally
By including links to other pages in your pages or posts, you can guide search engines and users to your most important pages. Including links to other pages also increases the amount of time that users spend on your site and increases the pages viewed per visit. Add additional links to a page when they are useful to your readers, use both links with and without keywords, and do not add more than several links to a page. You can also add “related posts” at the end of your page if applicable.
